Listed by areas, shown in order of incidence of disease.

Southern

Malaria, bronchitis, ulcerated legs, eye diseases (incl. trachoma) occasional pneumonia. Dysentery rare.

Western

Malaria, sores, syphilis, congenital syphilis (not obser- ved here before war) gonorrhoea and some beri-beri.

Northern

Gonorrhoea, septic legs (desert sores) TB, malnutri-

tion and scabies.

Southern

None, except two posts on LAMMA island run by

Garrison with RAF personnel, i.e. permanent orderly

and RAF Medical Officer who stops for some days at a

time.

Eastern

Malaria, ulcers, TB, beri-beri (last two not very

widespread).
